Estructura "there was" y "there were"
La estructura "there was" / "there were" se emplea en inglés para expresar existencia de algo en el pasado.
Ejemplo:
Hubo una fiesta el mes pasado.
Hubo manzanas en ese árbol el año pasado
Oraciones positivas:
There was + artículo (a/an) + sustantivo + complemento+ frase de tiempo en pasado (si la oración es en singular)
Ejemplo:
There was a party last month
There were + sustantivo en plural + complemento+ frase de tiempo en pasado (si la oración es en plural)
Ejemplo:
There were apples in that tree last year
Oraciones negativas:
There was + NOT + artículo (a/an) + sustantivo en singular + complemento+ frase de tiempo en pasado (si la oración es en singular)
Ejemplo:
There was not a party next month
There were + NOT + ANY + sustantivo en plural + complemento+ frase de tiempo en futuro (si la oración es en plural)
Ejemplo:
There were not any apples in that tree last year
Si se quiere hacer la contracción entre el auxiliar "was" o "were" y el "NOT" quedaría de la siguiente manera:
There wasn't a party last month
There weren't any apples in that tree last year
